We’re selling it all to become a full time travel family

Have you ever felt trapped? Have you ever felt lost? Have you ever felt like you are destined for more? We have for a long, long time. That is why we are selling everything we own. You heard us right, EVERYTHING, our home and all of our possessions. To travel the globe with our children. We are tired of living to work, we are tired of the routine, we are tired of earning enough to survive each month without the time nor money leftover to enjoy all that life has to offer. We feel like we are stuck on a monotonous hamster wheel, growing greyer and more wrinkly with each turn. Growing old and dying doesn’t scare us, that’s inevitable. But the thought of growing old and not living is terrifying.

We travelled for a while together before we had the girls and it is something that we have always wanted our children to experience. But life always finds a way of putting things off for you. So we settled, had our girls, got married, bought a house, worked, and packed the children off to school. It turns out that school didn’t work out so well for us, so two years ago Natalie quit her job and we began unschooling the girls.

“Some people long for a life that is simple and planned
Tied with a ribbon
Some people won’t sail the sea ’cause they’re safer on land
To follow what’s written
But I’d follow you to the great unknown
Off to a world we call our own” – Tightrope, The Greatest Showman
Most people thrive on this routine, they need it. We do not, and we cannot continue to live our lives dreaming of the future we want. We have to make it happen.

And that’s just what we are doing. We want to show our girls the world, and teach them that you can carve out the life you want. We want to show others that you don’t have to settle, and that you don’t have to be millionaires to travel the world.

Big Bean wants to be a rock climbing, scuba diving archaeologist, and Little Bean wants to be a zoologist. They are not going to learn how to do those things at home. We want to immerse them in culture and history, and meet and socialise with people from all walks of life.
We know that it won’t be all glitz and glamour, far from it! And we intend to share the many highs and lows with you, showing you how we travel the world with two children on a tight budget.
